Katy Love

As a passionate advocate and long term practitioner of participatory grantmaking, Katy Love is thrilled to be a faculty member for this course! She works with funders to shift power to communities in their governance, strategy and design, grantmaking, and evaluation and learning. She serves as a program manager at Fund for Shared Insight, where she co-authored the Participatory Philanthropy Toolkit. Katy speaks and writes frequently about shifting power in philanthropy, has led, designed, and participated in more than 50 rounds of participatory grantmaking, and co-developed the Advancing Participation in Philanthropy Tool. She was involved in the Participatory Grantmaking Collective and helped develop the Grantcraft Guide "Deciding Together." She served as the director of grantmaking at the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that runs Wikipedia, and held roles at Global Fund for Children and CARE International. Katy has worked as a consultant partner to Borealis Philanthropy, Equality Fund, Andrus Family Foundation, LGBTI Youth Fund, ClimateWorks, Global Fund for Women, Mama Cash, Orange County Community Foundation, Numun Fund, ACTIF, and more. Katy is on the Steering Committee of the Human Rights Funders Network.
