Head of Participatory Grant-making and Movement Support at ADD International, UK
I’m Vanessa (also known as Ness) and Head of Participatory Grant-making and Movement Support at ADD International. At ADD, I’m leading the development of new funds in which persons with disabilities hold the power and the money as they
design the grant-making, allocate the funds and implement grants for the priorities that they choose. We are aiming to target those who most struggle to access funding, especially women and youth with disabilities in Africa and Asia. I’m also focussing on how grant-making can support strong collaboration and movements and how to influence others to work this way, including how to build the evidence base for these
transfers of power and resources. My focus has always been voice, justice and collaboration - before coming to ADD, I have been Director of the Transparency and Accountability Initiative, Director of Advocacy and Civil Society Support at the Revenue Watch Institute, Head of Economic Policy and Child Poverty at Save the Children UK and I lived for four years in Nepal working on community health. I love art and colour and took a year off to go to art school in 2015 – though the bio photo is courtesy of my godson. And I LOVE to dance!
